I’ve always believed in the power of food to tell stories. But what I didn’t always realize is that the businesses behind that food—the restaurants, bars, cafés, catering companies—deserve to have their stories told too.
Plated Vancouver officially launches on June 27th, 2025, but this idea? It’s been simmering for years. Over two decades in hospitality will do that to you. I’ve worked the kitchen line, plated the final dish, bartended through packed Saturday nights, and handled the kind of moments that never make it to social media—but should. Because those moments are real. They’re the heartbeat of the industry.
I always knew I wanted to merge that lived experience with my passion for content creation. But life has a funny way of keeping you in motion—day-to-day, week-to-week, year-to-year—until one day you look up and realize the dream you had has been quietly waiting in the corner for your permission to begin.
This launch isn’t just a business move. It’s the beginning of something deeply personal—a space where food meets visuals, service meets story, and operators like you get to be seen.
If I can share one thing from this experience—it’s this: you have to chip away at the dream, even when it feels far.
There will always be work to do. Always emails to answer, shifts to cover, fires (figurative and literal) to put out. But those ideas you keep brushing aside? The name scribbled in a notebook? That brand vision you thought about in the shower? That’s the stuff worth listening to.
Plated didn’t appear overnight. It was built in the quiet hours, between projects, after long days. And it’s still a work in progress. But the difference is—I finally said yes.
So here’s your reminder: you don’t need to go full-throttle today. But you do need to take a step. Then another. Then another. And before you know it, you’re standing in something that once felt out of reach.
Vancouver is home. And the hospitality scene here? It’s in a league of its own. It’s bold, creative, diverse, hard-working—and in many ways, underrepresented in the digital space. That’s what I want Plated to change.
